I recently picked it up because its a nice little relaxing game.It took me a while to get into it again, but I noticed I never really used the donkey system, with settlers delivering many of the goods around. As in, I have the marketplaces, both in-and-out of borders, donkeys are available, trading routes are set etc etc.A is located near bakeries and slaughterhouses and fishermen huts, B is located near the mines, and C is located near the smelters.
I had the marketplaces set to infinitely bring Food (a) to Orescoal (b) to barsweapons (c). However. the marketplaces just get stacked with the items that are supposed to be brought around. I figured, the marketplaces need space to accept stuff, so I build 3 marketplaces next to the previous ones, just for the purpose of receiving items. It didnt work. Meanwhile, the donkeys bred like overactive rabbits, and I had about 20 if not more walking about. But not to the marketplaces. Nothing. This was all in-borders, at distance not too large, but not to small either. On another part of the same map, I had a small settlement, dedicated solely to mine. My idea was to have the ores there transported to yet another marketplace in my main settlement, and have the main settlement in return, send them food for the mines, and woodstoneetc to build more mines. The donkeys would -never- travel to them (marketplaces were present on the main settlement and new settlement, a route was established as well, but this was a sizeable distance on a large map). Again I figured too much stuff was stashed on the marketplaces, added 2 more marketplaces just for reception. Now I know its not something I did wrong. Ive played maps where I used donkeys and they (eventually) started working just fine. Ive had similar things happen with romans not growing vines (despite being on sunny areas of hills), as well as other events where the prerequisites were all met, but just didnt trigger.
